Application for Self-Directed Retreat
Please read carefully before applying, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Self-Directed retreats are available on a first come/first served basis. Reservation dates close 10 days before start of retreat.
FALL 2024 Self Directed Retreat dates will be announced in July ‘24:
Fee: Total fee $635 - includes $500 booking fee + $35 GRT + $100 security/damage deposit. Cancellations must be within 30 days of your stay or you forfeit your deposit. Security/damage deposit will be refunded within 7 days of your visit less any damages found after checkout.
1 retreat per artist/scientist per year please.
THINGS TO KNOW
Retreat is for 7 days/6 nights, accommodation only. You are responsible for your own transportation and food/drink. WOWArtSci is a smoke and scent free space.
WOWArtSci residents are housed on site in a private 900 sq ft casita. No pets or children under 12 allowed on the property. We allow one additional guest per retreat. WOWArtSci is located on 20 acres on the Taos Volcanic plateau aka ‘The Mesa’. We are about 13 miles from downtown Taos.
Studio Space Status (as of 1 January 2024):
We are awaiting the final installation and inspection of our outbuilding electrical. Once that is completed we will be able to finish the movement and art studios. Additional studio space may not be available for artists/scientists who need work space for painting, sculpting, or any kind of wet/messy media. Please let us know what you’ll be working on below to ensure that the casita space is appropriate for your retreat needs.
We hope that your retreat will provide a quiet, restful, stress free place to do your work.
We ask that you make 1-8.5” x 11” mini-zine about you/your project/your lifework/what moves and grooves you, etc. We will share your zine on our website, and in our library. Feel free to complete this before your visit to maximize your retreat time.
GETTING HERE
Major air carriers fly into Santa Fe, NM (77 miles), Alamosa, CO (86 miles), and Albuquerque, NM (135 miles). JSX(TaosAir - pricy) flies directly into Taos November-April from Austin, Burbank, Dallas, and San Diego. Public transportation in Northern New Mexico is limited but doable, please let us know if you need additional information about how to get to/from our property. There is a ride share service (temporarily suspended as of 1 Nov 23) in Taos - https://tripcarma.com/. We highly recommend bringing a vehicle if you can.

If approved, we will contact you with instructions to book the residency. You must book within 24 hours, or the dates will be reopened.
